This site is Nicolò Fadigà's personal portfolio. It collects a minimal amount of data, only to understand how it is used. No data is sold or shared for advertising.
Usage statistics
Each visit generates a few technical events (page viewed, referrer, reading depth, clicks on contact links). They help me understand which projects draw interest and where visitors come from.
The data is aggregated and cannot be traced back to a person. No cookies are used and there is no profiling, which is why there is no consent banner.
How visits are identified
To tell one visit from another, a fingerprint is derived from the IP address and browser, combined with a secret value that rotates every month. The fingerprint is not reversible and does not contain the IP address, which is never stored.
Within the month the fingerprint makes it possible to recognise that a visit comes from the same browser as an earlier one: it serves only to tell whether someone came back. When the month changes the secret value changes too, and the fingerprint can no longer be linked to anything recorded before.
Third-party tools
The site is hosted on Vercel, which collects anonymous performance and traffic metrics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights). The site's own statistics are stored in a Neon database within the European Union.
YouTube video embeds load only after an explicit click: until then, YouTube receives no data.
Retention
Raw events are kept for 12 months, after which only per-day aggregates remain. Vercel metrics follow Vercel's own retention policies.
